What is GSS

What is GSS Glass Strengthening System?

GSS' Glass Strengthening System is a combination of the highest quality polymer films, combined with GSS' proprietary cleaning, mounting, and bonding solutions. When applied to your ordinary glass, it then transforms your glass into a flexible, super strong, protective barrier.

Glass Strengthening Systems will help protect your glass against severe storms, such as hurricanes and tornadoes, as well as smash and grab robberies, breaking and entering, and at the same time protecting you from harmful ultra-violet rays.

Where Did The Idea For Glass Strengthening Systems, Inc. Come From?

With the fact that glass is the weakest point in any structure or automobile, Mark Gaston, the founder, President, and CEO of Glass Strengthening Systems, Inc (GSS), took a long look at the safety and security industry, especially in the area of the polymer film industry (safety and security film) and glass protection. What he found was the process used to install film on to glass over the last couple of decades had not changed much and was riddled with several processes that can and still do cause serious problems. The idea of finding and enhancing the method in which film is put to glass and a company that specialized in safety and security films was born.

This became his mission, along with the expertise and assistant of Don Damron who is an industry Leader in the Research and Development fields of ballistics, impact resistant, chemical research and bomb blast mitigation.

Over the next several months many situations that are common in the filming industry were studied and evaluated. One of the first challenges was to CHANGE the traditional way film was being MOUNTED to glass. The most common method of mounting film to glass then and even still today is with a mixture of soap and water that is normally mixed right there on the job site. This opens the installation process to many complications such as contaminates from the water, improper mixture of soap and water, which can cause conditions know as "Lift", "Cloudiness" and extremely long curing times.

The research into a more efficient process brought about GSS to develop a "All-In-One" glass penetrating solution, that when applied to the glass and film, this solution would actually allow the acrylic adhesives to penetrate deeper into the glass pores than any other mounting system on the market. This solution also provided a deep cleansing of the glass which provided a optimal surface for the bonding process to take place. The process that is created with GSS' solutions and the films adhesives, is referred to as chemical bonding.

Another problem was to improve upon the long curing times that are caused by moisture that is left behind after an installation. Which even by today's industry standards can still takes up to 90 days and in some conditions even longer. During this time the installation is susceptible to a variety of complications and problems causing conditions.

(1) The film itself could start to "Lift" in areas of high moisture.

(2) Particles of airborne debris and dirt that accumulates around the glass frame can infiltrate at the edges of the film causing separation or what is know as delamination.

(3) Uneven curing could take place causing weak points in the bonding process and allowing for less than satisfactory results when and if the glass is broken to the amount of glass retained.

So the perfecting of our proprietary solution (Secure-Bond) used to CLEAN, MOUNT and BOND the film to glass became a priority. Once all testing was done, GSS had developed a Proprietary Solution "Base" that GSS uses for all of its Glass Strengthening Systems' formulas.

With GSS' Proprietary Solution perfected, the results were very dramatic. There was an over all effect on the curing times, which were reduced to 21 days or less with most films, and with films 8mil and thinner we achieved 65 % to 75% curing in the first week. GSS' solutions created an environment for the films to cure in a more uniformed fashion, thereby eliminating most of the complications experienced by our competitors in the industry.

With more testing we found that the use of GSS' Solutions was a direct correlation to the increased "Adhesion/Bonding Rates" that are at a consistent 95 % or better. This was a mass improvement over the industry standard which is normally around 80 %.

Due to GSS' unique ability to strengthen glass, protect lives, and property, GSS, Inc. is one of the fastest growing companies of its kind. GSS is well known and highly respected throughout the world by governments, militaries, and safety and security companies where our products are being used. Mr. Gaston has been invited and attended as a guest speaker internationally and with trade shows.

The primary function of GSS is to strengthen glass first, then keep the glass intact in its frame if glass failure occurs.  The likelihood of injury to person and property is greater in the course of un-treated glass breakage than that of glass treated with GSS' system.  It is a proven fact that the application of our film to glass can greatly reduce chance of damage and injury received by flying glass and debris.

GSS films and products can be found installed throughout the country and globally on government buildings, military bases, police stations, television and news stations, schools, hospitals such as The Mayo Clinic, banks, Walt Disney World, and even Cape Canaveral. Furthermore, a significant part of GSS' business is also generated from limitless home and business owners who have GSS' Glass Strengthening and Protective Film Systems applied to their homes, businesses, and automobiles.

GSS can be found all over the world, including some of the major trouble spots, like Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Columbia and China. GSS is the only product of its kind that has been tested and approved for the installation and sales in Hong Kong and China.

Glass is everywhere, and still remains as one of the weakest area or points when it comes to protecting lives and property. The need for safety and security is more apparent now than it ever has been, and there is no time like the present, for you to be preparing for the unexpected threat of severe weather conditions and crime. With GSS many more people can have the peace of mind in knowing that their glass is protected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Let GSS make your world a safer place.
